Please forgive this frivolous category. I just couldn’t help noticing that some of the architects seemed to favour stripes and that these buildings appeared to form a neat subset. I think there is a case to be made that the horizontal stripe aesthetic is the ultimate expression of ‘flats’ as a form and the most logical endgame for the 1930s ‘look-no-hands’ continuous window format. The defining feature is:
