Built by Stepney Borough Council, flats range from studios to three bedrooms and were for working class tenants following slum clearance. Original estate had mortuary chapel. Almost all flats have private balconies. Flats are accessed via continuous decks on the north sides of the blocks. The south block has now been demolished. There was a rooftop playground and drying rooms in the original design. Refurbished by Architype using LDDC funding in 1997. The original contractor was Demolition and Construction Co Ltd.
