This imposing 6 storey white deco block of flats was built by the same developer as built Ruskin Park House (English & Scottish Properties). It is unclear who designed it. The exterior is extremely plain - no lintels or cills - the only real flourish being some decorative blue/green glass lights in the prominent vertical staircore glazing. Vents with hoods appear above each window giving quite a utilitarian feel, like a hospital. Inside, the common parts are far more traditional than the exterior would imply. A wonderful feature is the inclusion of a full height range of cupboards adjacent to each front door, where the resident would have placed their laundry and shoes and come home to find them cleaned, ironed and polished by the ‘invisible servants’! This is an innovation I’d like to bring back... The building and especially its grounds are somewhat neglected and in need of investment.
