The buildings were designed and built for the North-East London Property Company Ltd. Cockett, Henderson & Gillow Ltd appears to have been a firm of land and estate agents, auctioneers, surveyors and valuers established in the 1890s. The estate consists of three, three-storey blocks with flat roofs behind parapets, forming a U-shaped development surrounding a central courtyard garden and drive.
