Cholmeley Lodge

1934

Architect: Guy Morgan

PreviousNext
123456

This building has a very unusual plan with three curved concave blocks of 30 foot radius. The building was originally planned for Bournemouth, but the planners would not allow the modern look, wanting tudor timberwork to soften the elevation. Morgan refused. Today the building is still stunning. The grounds are beautifully kept and the elevations immaculate, with the original windows preserved and some residents opting for discreet secondary glazing. The original super graphic signage has been complemented with some new street level signs with their own lighting.
